Studio Lead - Minneapolis, Minnesota

Job Summary:

As our studio lead, you are solely responsible for the day-to-day operations of our product production and shipping. You enjoy working with your hands and can tackle any kind of production task thrown your way with great attention to detail—completing tasks quickly without sacrificing quality. 

On any given day, your responsibilities may include mixing fragrance oils & pouring candles, scheduling and communicating wholesale logistics with our wholesale customers, keeping track of production materials & inventory and streamlining production processes and procedures. As a Studio Lead, you will be the primary point person responsible for keeping candle production on-time, in stock and communicating with the team.

Although the role is not tech-heavy, this work requires someone who is comfortable working on a computer and across multiple digital platforms such as, Faire, Shopify and others. If you aren’t familiar with these platforms - they are easy to learn!

This role requires a sharp eye for detail, self-organization and is a must be very comfortable with repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare materials such as wax, wicks, fragrances, for candle production.

  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines when handling hot wax and other materials.

  • Operate candle-making equipment, including melting tanks, molds, and pouring tools.

  • Pour melted wax into vessels ensuring even distribution and proper alignment of wicks.

  • Setting up and tearing down for markets

  • Package candles in an attractive and professional manner, following brand guidelines.

  • Shipping out products on time

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including cleaning equipment and tools.

  • Keep inventory of materials and supplies, and reorder as needed.

  • Collaborate with other team members to meet production goals and deadlines.

  • Great initiative and willingness to help with any task (taking out trash, sweeping, breaking down boxes)

Requirements:

  • Ability to lift boxes up to 50lbs. 

  • Must have a valid drivers license. 

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively.

  • Physical stamina and dexterity to handle repetitive tasks and lift moderate weights (Must be able to stand on feet for ~8 hours a day).

  • Ability to work a handful of weekends a year. 

  • Must be able to work alone for prolonged periods of time, and be fully self-motivated, accountable, responsible, independent, and reliable

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience in production systems and shipping, website management or a related field is a plus.

Working Conditions:

Candle making involves working with hot materials and strong fragrances. The job may require standing for long periods and lifting moderate weights. Protective gear such as gloves and aprons may be provided.

Commitment:

Training for this position will start at 20-30 hours a week. We are hoping our studio lead will transition to full time starting early January.

Salary:

Salary may vary depending on experience. 

$20-27/hour
